There She Goes #2

Hope you’ll enjoy this set too…

Yesterday, Mia went inside the toilet and saw me changing my pads…

Mia: Oh no! Mommy! You have blood visit again!

Me: Blood visit! Yes! I’ve got my period. Please go to Dad.

Mia: That’s why you have a big bad headache!

Me: Huh? Oh yes! That’s why I got headache! You remembered!

Mia: Don’t worry! Don’t worry, I’ll shoo it away. Hmmm, it’s too big. (I don’t know what she meant by “big.”) I’ll get scared. Ok I will call Daddy.

Me: Why? Just go to him now. I’ll be fine.

Mia: But Mom! Daddy can shoo it, he is big too! He is strong and brilliant. (Wow, brilliant)!

Me: Mia, (trying to think how to explain) it will not get shooed just like that. Just don’t worry. I’m ok.

Mia: Ok. Daddy!!! Shoo it!!!

Around 9am yesterday, while Jose and I are still in bed laughing over a story he shared about work…

Mia: Mom! Dad! I got to o-o. (She is going to do No. 2).

Me: Hun, ikaw na please!

I overheard them discussing…

Mia as she went o-o: Daddy, did you hear that?

Jose: Yes, you’re good! Thanks for telling us!

Mia: Yes and they are a family too!

Jose: What?

Mia: There’s Daddy o-o, Mommy o-o, Ate Mia o-o, and Baby TJ (my niece) o-o!

Jose can’t stop laughing: Oh yeah! They are a family too!!!

Yeah, who wouldn’t laugh with that! That’s our Mia! Galing mag-compare noh?

4th Year Anniversary Countdown

A month to go and we will be celebrating our 4th year anniversary! Whooo! How time really flies! Speaking of celebration, please join me as I try to do some flashbacks on how we spent our anniversary dates from year one. This would be quite long, so read if you’ve got nothing else to do or you are just really really interested to know! Hihi!

On our very first, I was 7 months pregnant and I gave him a love letter. We were living in an apartment at Mayapis (10 minutes away from Glorietta), and it was a Friday. To talk about how stressed we were is an understatement. Jose’s tired from work and I was tired from my heavy and humongous belly. Still, we made every effort to hopefully make a night to remember. In short, we had no plans. Maybe Jose forgot! I could not tell. He’s really not the “celebrating” type. Pregnancy hormones kicked in, I remember being so impatient for he can’t even decide where to eat or what to do. Feeling every bit the most important woman in the world, I made it even worse by not suggesting at all. He kept asking if I want to watch a movie but I didn’t care. (No chick flick e!) Then we had to really, really eat or I’ll scream! He picked a good one, amidst the craziness of the moment. I had Angus Ribeye and Jose had the Full Slab Ribs, Salads (and I can not remember anymore) at Outback Steakhouse. The service and food, I would never forget! Superb! The beef melts in your mouth and also melts your pockets! Hey! Jose was still an analyst and I was a call center agent then! Big time na yon for us noh! See? I am not that hard to please! We were too full and too tired we had to end the night after that… Hmmm… ANYWAY, so that’s the first year.

Second year, we were in UK na. The whole day was spent at Newcastle’s Monument, well most of the day that is. I am very sure it was a Saturday. Mia’s on her 10th month and of course, we brought her along with us. Jose got me jewelry. A necklace and earrings set. O, may gift na siya! Ako nga lang pumili…not that I mind! For Jose naman, since I was very newbie in cooking that time (Naks! That time!), having Roasted Chicken and Pasta Bolognese for dinner should be considered as a very nice anniversary gift na from me! After dinner, we watched ALIAS and had a VERY GOOD night’s sleep. Ayan! Off to third!

Our third year was in London. Sosyal na kami masyado! Haha! Since we were living in Slough then and we have relatives there, Jose and I had the very first US time after so long. That in itself was a big break that we very much appreciated! We actually spent our anniversary date on a 29th since no one’s going to take care of Mia on the afternoon of the 30th. So, back to London… We spent the morning in museums; The V&A, Natural History and Science. No entrance fees kaya carry lang! Then we watched Les Miserables at the Queen’s Theatre and had dinner at Leicester Square’s CafĂ© de Hongkong. Maybe for people in London, the things we did were somehow just a part of their daily routine but for me, everything was a big deal. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our celebration and that’s all that matters. We had the whole night by ourselves and we had so much fun reminiscing… On the actual day, Jose and I fetched Mia, (Oh we really missed her!) we went to church then had pizza for dinner.

Wow! We actually spent each anniversary in a different place. Jose must really thank me for sticking with him through it all! (Oh, that comment deserves an entirely full packed new post)!

This afternoon, while Jose and I are doing the budget, I plainly asked how we are going to spend our 4th year. He shrugged the topic so fast with, “Ako na ang bahala ron.” I smiled and replied, “Aba, may plano ka na ba talaga or ngayon mo lang naalala kaya ayaw mo pag-usapan?” He just ended it with, “Please do not expect ha, alam mo naman ako diba?” Then I just smiled.

Yes, I really do know him. I really do know how much I mean to him. I know he is willing to give all that he has and all that he could just for me and Mia. Living everyday, feeling secure and having peace of mind and heart is all I ever wished for and God gave me Jose. For this relationship, having him safe and healthy everyday is all I could ask…Well, that doesn’t leave me getting excited on that plan though! So, wait with me ok?

Here are 4 pictures of us through the years of our marriage…

Sino tumaba? Sino pumayat? Tumaba, pumayat? E ang tumaba ng tumaba?! Basta palaging nakatawa, yon naman ang mahalaga. Hehehe!

Pasalubong

Check out what Jose got Mia from Budapest last night! It's the biggest Smarties packaging I've seen so far! (1 foot long!) It was just funny when I told Jose that Mia doesn't like Smarties. He just replied with, "Who said they were for Mia? The toys on top are for Mia, Smarties are for you!" Sus! Para sa akin daw! May footlong din naman ako, from Subway Central Milton Keynes nga lang! Hehe!

Anyway, Mia was so happy when Jose gave them to her this morning that she literally flew! She jumped and grabbed Jose's neck and thanked him with a hug and kiss!!! If only you could buy the whole duty free ano?! Hee!

An arm's length!

There She Goes #1

The There She Goes blog title from this site will be all about Mia's cute, smart, silly and funny dialogues, quotes or bright ideas and her making a point.

Here goes the first set!

Mia while brushing her teeth this afternoon before taking a bath...

Mia: Mom, look at me! I'm like baby santa! (Toothpaste bubbles on her chin).

Me: Mia, what would you like to ask Santa for Christmas? That is if you'd been nice!

Mia wiping her mouth: I ask Santa to make me baby Santa.

Me: What? Why?

Mia: So I can ride with him and we will go to Disneyland!!!

Now you know what I mean when I told you about her begging us to go there from time to time. Basta maisingit! =)

Mia ran hurriedly upstairs and pulled me while I was folding clothes in our bedroom...

Mia: Mom, quick! Let's go to my room!!!

Me: Why? What's up?

Mia: Goldilocks is here! She might break my bed!

So much for Cartoonito!

London Chinatown - Golden Dragon

With Tito Butch

We decided to spend the weekend in London since we thought Tito Butch, a friend from high school, could finally meet-up with us. Too bad something came up with his plans that the only time we could see him would be at night. We thought we could have dinner but then again, he had to go with his crowd from work. He still made it though! He just followed us from where we ate and Mia was just so happy to see a new face. They were an instant hit.

Because of the busy schedule (make it very busy schedule) that Jose’s having right now, and with Butch’s weekend countdown before he goes home, I am really hoping that we could meet again be it here in our place or his.

Golden Dragon is the first Chinese Restaurant that we have been to here in UK that did not offer the all-you-can-eat buffet style. Well, Jose is not a big fan of that style anyway and since we were so tired from the day's event, there's no way we can eat that much. We liked Golden Dragon from the waiting time 'til the time we went out. For one, even if it was the busiest restaurant that we have seen that night, we just waited for like 3 minutes before we got assisted to our table! The waiters were very kind and accomodating. Classic cramped set-up but very very clean. Mia downed her soup in no time! It was delicious. I am no fan of peking duck but I fell in love with theirs. I finished eating before Jose, which is not the normal scenario for us; Jose definitely enjoyed his crispy duck in pancake. The fried noodles topped with king prawns was just the way I like it. Their spring rolls, something different but nice. The special fried rice, I was not able to taste (since it was Jose's pick afterall) since I was just too full. For dessert... I was saving it to Hello Panda which I bought from the Chinese store just across the restaurant. The only thing that slipped was when we had our round of pineapple and orange juice, we ordered sparkling water to get a good burp. The waitress mistakenly gave us still water. Since we were not familiar with the brand, Jose opened it right away and drank with dismay saying, "Ngee, still!" =( We just decided to let it pass. Nabigyan naman ng libreng Chupa Chups si Mia e, hehe!

Our darling patiently waiting...

Delicioso!

I think it is worth to mention that Mia and I have been praying to Jesus and Mama Mary to give us a good weather on this day and to keep everything as perfect as how we wish everyday to be. They heard us loud and clear! Since we're taking public transport, we braced ourselves to possibly get Manila's MRT at rush hour situation when we go home. What do you know? We arrived a couple of minutes before our train leaves and we were told to just occupy the first class coach. Ito ang kapalit ng pagka-out of stock ng inaasam-asam kong bagoong Milagrosa sa Chinese Store na binilhan ko ng Hello Panda, Pokky, Haw Flakes, Nissins Ramen at Lucky Me Bihon. Nga naman, when a door closes, a big window opens! Thank you Papa Jesus, thank you Mama Mary! We love you!!!

Blessed

Antok na yan! Makulit pa rin!

London Zoo

Kudos to Miapot for giving us the time of our lives without a buggy in tow!!! London is really not a place for buggies! It is too busy and you’d never know where to find the lifts.

We think the terrible two stage is now coming to an end. Hallelujah! Besides, Mia will turn 3, just three months from now. Oh! Mia is just so sweet! I love her! I love her! I love her! She just makes us really proud every time people would ask and know how old she is. They would tell us that she speaks more like a 5 year old! No kidding! There were like four families who asked us about her in London Zoo alone. There was even a group of loud men, about the same age as ours, when we were in the underground who got so glued to Mia (and her Chucks) and told Jose that if they had a daughter like her, every penny that they are working for will be so worth it!

Eto na!!! Feeling ko eto na ang matagal ko nang hinihintay na kabayaran sa mga sakripisyo ko! Hehehehe!

Mia was in total bliss. She just loves animals. Why, 70% of her books include them!

For now, Mia doesn’t get any support from the British government. Going to places like these (entrance fees) would cost us another head when she turns three. We just hope that we could save for the annual pass because we know it would really really be worth it.

*Tita Ja on phone: Mia, did you see the elephants?
Mia: No…
Tita Ja: What about giraffes?
Mia: No…
Tita Ja: Oh, that’s not a zoo…
Mia: There were kangaroos and penguins…
Tita Ja: Ok, that’s a zoo.
Yeah, we thought there would be elephants and giraffes alright? It is on Mia’s checklist on who to find there! Silly me, I thought the London Zoo is the same as the Whipsnade Zoo, which is apparently three to four times bigger than the one we’ve been to. Now that we know, Whipsnade, would definitely have elephants and giraffes! So, again, we’ve got to save for that.
**Ate Twinkle upon seeing the pictures on draft in our Multiply Account:
Ate Twinkle: Naku kung may SLR kayo…
Me: Hmmm ako lang ata Ate. Tignan mo yung kuha ni Jose sa butterflies at mga ibon…
Ate Twinkle: Ahahahaha! Sinasadya mo no?
Me: Hindi ah! Ayaw lang ata talaga sakin nun camera niya! Nyaha!
The Digicam that we are using is an Olympus C-750 Ultra Zoom (Naks! Ultra Zoom!) which he bought from his very first salary in 2003 when he was with HP. A few months ago, Jose would just give me deaf ears when I kid him to buy something more lightweight and with higher megapixel. As if I know what I'm asking for... Anyway, just a couple of weeks ago he was so excited about an offer given to him at LHR Dutyfree with a Canon 450D... Then it hit me. (Parang ayoko ata ng SLR!) What's wrong with the one that we have now? Besides, we have to save for a car and the things that come with it (driving lessons, license, insurance, etc.) We can’t buy SLR without buying a car first. We can’t bring the Baby bag, Mia and SLR without busting ourselves while battling the cold... So there, forgive me with the shots that I am posting. I mean the ones that I took. I know you understand. =)
Buti nga ngayon may digicam na! Dati, swerte mo kung 'di sunog mga pictures pag na-develop! Hehe! Sus! Excuses!

Ok, here are some pics:

Camels
Kangaroos...paki hanap niyo...Hehe!
Proud Bird

From Flamingos...

to Hippos!

Happy Couple!!!
Why mad?
Na-discover ni Mia na pag hinawakan buntot, nakikiliti ang sheep kaya ayun hinawakan nang paulit-ulit! E takot ako baka maurungan siya!
Walang edit yan! Galing ng asawa ko! Hehe!
This is the Carousel Ride that I was talking about from the previous post... 4 Pewnds, Please!!!

London Aquarium

The London Aquarium is a good start for Mia to get pumped up for our Summer Bank Holiday Weekend day out! She enjoyed every minute that we’ve been there. She can’t even figure out which way to go first or which aquarium to look at. Jose and I kept on telling ourselves, “Buti na lang dito natin siya unang dinala. Buti na lang dinala natin siya, kasi may bayad na pala pag three na. Nakalibre tayo isang taon! Hehehe!” Not that we plan to bring her every year but if she could beg us to go to Disneyland from time to time, the Aquarium and the Zoo would be another story… She LOVES animals and knows most of the names of the mom and baby animals by heart too!

I was also all smiles when we came to the OA priced (well, for me) souvenirs shop. Apart from it could mean shopping, I am so happy to see how well-behaved Mia was. She just tried to get one pen and a little globe and moved around the very narrow spaced shop very carefully. When I checked what she has with her, I told her that she’s got too many pens at home so we will not buy it and that the globe has to go too because… well it’s (too expensive) not for our house since we don’t know where to place it yet. She tried to give me the sad face and said, “Mom, it has snow in it. Please?” I just told her its summer and we don’t need snow.

Gusto niyo na ko padalhan pera noh? Well, that’s parenting for us. We buy what she only needs and would only buy the wants if she really does not have it yet or if it’s reasonably (50-80% off) priced. She got naman one item and Jose was the one who decided to buy for it really looked cute on Mia. She got the pastel-colored necklace and bracelet set. It’s just a pound! Hello?! Jackpot!

Pero nabalewala naman pagtitipid ko dahil sa carousel ng London Zoo. (Please check my next post after this.) Nag-promise ako kay Mia na mag-carousel siya sa may tabi pa lang ng London Eye… Kaya nun nakita na naman niya na may carousel sa London Zoo, pinakiusapan na naman ako ni Mia na gusto niya sumakay. Since she’s been really a good girl all day, as soon as we heard the last call for carousel, Jose and Mia ran right away to ride a horse. Si Kuya hinoldap ako. Sabi, “4 pewnds please!” Grrrr!

Here are some pics:
On the way to Aquarium, The Houses of Parliament as background

While Jose was buying our tickets...
Gulat talaga ko bigla siya pumanik at nagsabing, "Mom, please take our picture!!!" Marunong pumili ng pogi! Hehehe!

Inside the London Aquarium

Stingray!!!

Say Cheese!

Big Tank of Friendly Sharks According to Mia
Our Lunch Spot
This is the busiest spot in the area but Mia was just so behaved and stayed on her seat the whole time. After eating, (Oh well!) nakipagchika pa rin sa mga tao sa paligid niya but they were just a couple of steps away from us. So, katuwa talaga our baby girl!

About Me

Here's a little summary about the author behind Twinkie Calls...

I was born on March 25 and shared this birthday with my twin sister named Mary Twinkle I. Alfonso now a Bernardo. Our Mama Jean wanted her twins' names to have everything the same except for one letter. (Now, do you understand why I was named like that?!) You see, I never had the problem of explaining my "obvious" name until I worked and also when we got relocated to a place where no one believes that's my real name. Ate (Yes I call her Ate) and I have been together since birth, nursery, grade school, high school, and college. So for the would be readers of this site who did not witness our growing-up and growing (bigger and bigger) years, I hope you get the drift.

I was civilly married to Jose Golosino on September of 2004 and we had a very simple church blessing on March of 2008 which is also on Jose’s 26th birthday.

Jose and I are high school sweethearts from St. James Academy Malabon. I am a graduate from the University of Santo Tomas with Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science while Jose’s a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics graduate from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

We are blessed more with a beautiful, smart and sweet baby named Mia Betina A. Golosino. She was born on November of 2005.

I am feisty, wicked and currently a stay at home stage mommy while my husband’s working at his best as an IT Consultant based at Accenture, Old Bailey.
We have been relocated to UK since July of 2006. We now reside at Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

I hope this blog would serve as something that my daughter could look back when I'm no longer capable of remembering... Nyeee drama naman agad!

Yey! (Up here Mia!) Another newbie post for Mommy! Ooopss! Sleeping na pala!

Whew!!!

How hard can this be?! Yes, I’m taking a big leap on finally getting my very own blog started. This page would be kept as a secret until September 30, 2008; our 4th year Anniversary as hubby and wifey!!! Hurrah! Well, at least for my husband. You see, he’s the one who kept on cheering me to start my own blog since I really enjoy lurking in other people’s (lives) views about life. Yeah, so what right? Well, he’s got another point though. He said it would also be another way of communicating to our family in the Philippines and relatives all over the globe. Yikes! As if they would really take time going to my page! So there, I’ll just keep this first entry short. Oh! I’m getting excited on what to “post” next!!!
